Blogs that say they offer answers to something and instead say paragraph upon paragraph of nothing are not only useless, they are a waste of time. Tonight I went onto a blog that was supposed to have marketing tips and advice for the construction industry. What I found on the blog instead was:
What a waste. Don’t let your company be run the same way, and don’t do work like that, either. If you say you offer a solution to something, say what the solution is. Simple, right? So is business when you're direct. Time is money in business. If you didn’t do it two seconds ago, you just wasted two seconds where you could have been getting paid. MAIN MESSAGE: Be direct. When talking with your customer, say, "This is the problem and this is how I will solve it." Being direct is quick, precise and gets the job done. If you don’t know how to solve a problem, say so. You're wasting everyone's time if you don't. Here's another example to further clarify what I'm talking about. Pretend you are hungry right now. If you sit around for five minutes wondering why you are hungry, are you still going to be hungry? Yes. If you instead go to the store and get something to eat, will you still be hungry? No. So what's the point? If you focus on the solution, not the problem, you won't be hungry. Make like Nike and just do it.
