The Bruins win again, a new face in the desert earns a surprise shutout, and a last-minute tip-in leads to a Hollywood finish. All this and more in today's NHL Minute.
MONDAY'S RESULTS
  • Boston Bruins 5, Carolina Hurricanes 3 - The Bruins stay undefeated in regulation (4-0-1) after winning an exciting game that required late heroics. Carolina erased a 3-1 deficit by scoring two goals in 50 seconds near the end of the second period, but Boston center David Krejci notched the game winner, his first of the year, with 1:50 left to play (Rookie defenseman Dougie Hamilton got the primary assist; watch the video). Bruins goalie Anton Khubodin, playing in relief of Tuuka Rask, stopped 32 shots in the win.
  • Dallas Stars 1, Columbus Blue Jackets 2  - In a total snoozer, Dallas turned the puck over often and Columbus sneaked away with a rare victory to snap a four-game skid. 23-year-old Stars left winger Jamie Benn, fresh off a contract holdout, assisted on Dallas' lone goal.
  • Nashville Predators 0, Phoenix Coyotes 4 - Phoenix played a tight, defensive game to protect goaltender Chad Johnson, who was just called up from the minors because of starter Mike Smith's injury and normal backup Jason LaBarbera's sub-par play. Johnson only faced 21 shots and stopped them all in his first action in three seasons. "It was an easy game, and I had a lot of help," said Johnson in a postgame interview.
  • Colorado Avalanche 1, Edmonton Oilers 4  - Colorado took six penalties and Edmonton scored on four of them. You can't take penalties against the Oilers. Young studs Eberle and Yakupov scored their third goals of the season in the victory, while Taylor Hall had two assists. Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk was busy once again, stopping 37 shots. They have to give him some better defense. Meanwhile, Colorado will continue their four-game Western Canada tour on Wednesday in Vancouver.
  • Vancouver Canucks 2, L.A. Kings 3 (S/O) - The Kings owned the first half of the game but saw themselves trailing 2-1 after two periods thanks to an Vancouver offense that converted on its few opportunities. Limiting the Canucks to just three shots in the third period, L.A. managed to send the game into OT thanks to a ridiculously frantic sequence that culminated with a tip-in goal in the final minute. Vancouver had chances to win in the extra frame but was denied. Kings sniper Jeff Carter got the only goal for either team in the ensuing shootout, doing so in the third and final round. What a Hollywood ending. Roberto Luongo was in net for Vancouver, turning aside 26 shots as he tries to take back the team's starting job.

TUESDAY'S SCHEDULE
  • New Jersey (3-0-1) at Boston (4-0-1) - (4 PT) - Two balanced, undefeated teams with top goaltending square off in the game of the night.
  • Toronto (2-3) at Buffalo (2-3) - (4 PT) - Toronto has to win this one to be taken seriously this season.
  • Philadelphia (2-4) at NY Rangers (2-3) - (4 PT) - The Rangers finally catch a break, as they face a Flyers team with no defense. Rise and shine, Rick Nash, the Garden awaits.
  • Winnipeg (3-1-1) at Montreal (3-1) - (4:30 PT) - Canada's game of the night. Montreal finally came to terms with holdout defenseman P.K. Subban. He led the team in ice time last season, so they'll want him back in there ASAP. Montreal goalie Carey Price has been pretty good lately, and he'll have to shut down Byfuglien and Kane for the Canadiens to come out with a win.
  • Washington (1-3-1) at Ottawa (3-1-1) - (4:30 PT) - Ovechkin has to score for the Capitals to win.
  • NY Islanders (2-2-1) at Pittsburgh (3-2) - (4:30 PT) - Both teams have had streaky play, but Pittsburgh has played better out of the two and has more talent.
  • Florida (1-4) at Tampa Bay (4-1) - (4:30 PT) - Sunshine state neighbors clash in a divisional matchup that will probably turn into a blowout. Florida has been the NHL doormat so far, while the Lightning are scoring nearly five goals a game.
  • Dallas (2-3-1) at Detroit (2-2-1) - (4:30 PT) - Following a lackluster loss in Columbus, the Stars head to Detroit to face a Red Wings team that just gave everything they had against Chicago on Sunday. Detroit should win if their strong play carries over.
  • Columbus at Minnesota - (5 PT) - A rested Minnesota teams gets Columbus on the back end of back-to-back games. The Wild have been clicking on offense the last two games and will keep that rolling.
  • Anaheim at San Jose - (7:30 PT) (NHL Network) - I'll be attending this game! Look for hard hits, a couple power plays and a San Jose victory. The Sharks will dominate if Thornton and Marleau own the slot.
